From the commander’s desk

As Commander of El Camino Real Forum, I am honored to serve alongside veterans, military families, students, and community members who are committed to preserving the values of service, citizenship, and civic responsibility.

Our organization is rooted in the legacy of the American GI Forum, founded in 1948, and proudly continues that tradition as an independent nonprofit organization established in October 2023. We embrace the belief that veterans and civilians working together can strengthen our communities and create lasting opportunities for future generations. Membership is open to both veterans and civilians who share our commitment to service and advocacy.

El Camino Real Forum is dedicated to defending veterans’ rights, empowering military families, and serving our communities through education, outreach, and advocacy. We provide scholarship opportunities for students, connect veterans and their families with valuable resources, support community outreach initiatives, and promote civic engagement throughout the region.

One of our most important missions is preserving the historic National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers in West Los Angeles. Established in 1888 as a permanent home for veterans, this land was intended to provide care, housing, and support for those who served our nation. We remain steadfast in our belief that it should continue to fulfill that purpose. It is not simply a campus—it is a home. A home for veterans should remain a home for veterans.

Through partnerships with schools, civic organizations, veteran service groups, and community leaders, we continue working to ensure that veterans and their families have a voice, students have opportunities to succeed, and the sacrifices of those who served are never forgotten.
